Towering ambition crashes to earth as haymarket hotel plan rejected
AN AMBITIOUS plan to build a 17-storey hotel in Edinburgh city centre has been thrown out by the Scottish Government, after a public inquiry found it would ruin classic views of the city and dominate the Haymarket area.
The application for planning permission for the massive hotel was successfully opposed by the Cockburn Association who were represented at the inquiry by John Campbell Q.C.
